Commodity Crop Growing

A sustainable output market for commodity crops is crucial to stimulate the seed economy. Small holder farmers have to reach higher production levels in order for farming to be profitable. An NGO, Sustainable Agricultural Technologies (SAT) partnered with SAMP to work with farmers on Conservation Agriculture (CA) in the three operational countries of the project. In Zimbabwe Karima Gold and SAT is contracting 2,700 small holder farmers to produce cowpeas for a local commodity buyer while in Swaziland and Lesotho 25 farmers in each country are working with SAT to increase maize production under CA.
